1. SuperATV R Series (+2013 Ranger XP 900)

Fits:

  • Polaris Ranger XP 900 : 2013+
  • Polaris Ranger XP 900 Crew : 2013+

If you own a Ranger XP 900, then SuperATV has got you covered.

Their R Series half doors (also available for the crew version) are well thought out and blend in perfectly with the body lines of the XP 900.

Made from aluminum in the US of A, the R Series half doors are very lightweight yet very strong and durable – perfect for hardworking SxS. The thick and sturdy aluminum frame secures to the SxS with two mounting points – the roll cage and the floor.

The half doors come with all the hardware that you will need and there’s absolutely no drilling or the like involved. All you have to do is remove the side nets and install the doors using already existing bolt holes. Simple as that.

They use automotive latches to keep the doors from opening up while riding on rough trails, which we like a lot. Furthermore, these half doors make for a perfect hand rest – they completely nailed the height.

Now, installing them can be a bit of pain, but it’s really not that bad. They simply bolt onto existing bolt holes, and the instructions are also pretty good.

2. Dragonfire Racing Pursuit Doors (2018+ Ranger 1000 XP)

Fits:

  • Polaris Ranger 1000 3 Seat : 2018+

Here’s a great option for the three-seat Ranger 1000s and 1000 XPs by Dragonfire Racing.

Now, as you might expect from a company that named themselves ‘Dragonfire Racing’ – these doors look outstanding.

The outer skin is made from lightweight yet durable aluminum, while the whole frame is made from steel tubing for strength. What we really liked about the design is that you can’t see the steel tube frame under the door from the outside. It’s all neatly covered with the outside aluminum shell and looks really professional.

They use an automotive-style latch with a 2-stage locking mechanism, which is really nice and the Delrin sleeved striker pins do a good job of preventing rattle.

With that said, installing them requires drilling 4 holes total. They mount in place of the side net holders, and that’s where you will need to drill a few extra holes. I personally hate the suicide-style doors, therefore this is just a small price for having normally opening half doors.

3. SuperATV XP 800 Aluminum (Polaris Ranger XP 800)

Fits:

  • Polaris Ranger XP 800 : 2009-2014

SuperATV is really dominating the UTV and ATV aftermarket with their extremely well-made products, and their Polaris Ranger XP 800 half doors are no exception.

They come with a really cool frame that extends over the gas tank and makes it all look really clean, while still allowing for easy access to the filler neck.

The 1-1/4 aluminum tube frame is designed in such a way that it really compliments the contours of the Ranger XP 800 and since the aluminum is powder-coated – you can literally forget about rust. These half doors will most likely outlive your SxS.

Now, these half doors also require drilling into the frame during installation, though that’s understandable since there’s no other way to properly secure the doors to the Ranger.

4. SuperATV 500 Aluminum (Polaris Ranger Midsize 500)

Fits:

  • Polaris Ranger Midsize 500 : 2017+
  • Polaris Ranger Midsize ETX : 2015+
  • Polaris Ranger Midsize EV : 2015+
  • Polaris Ranger Midsize 570 : 2015+

Last but not least – the best half doors for Polaris Ranger Midsize 500.

They look similar to the ones above for the XP 800, especially the frame extension over the gas tank. Normally, exposed aluminum tube frames look pretty janky and cheap, but the guys at SuperATV did a really great job on following the original contours and even improving the look of the Ranger 500.

Luckily, there is no drilling needed when installing these doors, but you will need to slightly trim the metal seat back in order to fit the frame. Other than that, everything else is really straightforward, and the instructions that come with the doors are really good – especially the pictures.

How to Choose The Best Half Doors for Your Polaris Ranger

Half Doors is quite a big purchase and it will easily set you back by at least 700 bucks. Now, nobody wants to waste their money or have to go through the hassle of returning their purchase, therefore it’s a good idea to do your research beforehand.

Now, if that sounds like a plan, then you might be interested in our complete buyer’s guide below.

Half Doors vs Full Doors

If you’ve stumbled upon this article, then you’ve likely made your mind up and want to get half doors and not full doors.

However, you should still quickly consider whether you really want to go with half doors or would it be more beneficial to go with full doors instead. That way, you will minimize the chances that you will regret buying one or the other.

Now, full doors are a really good idea if you live in a mosquito-infested area or somewhere where rain is a common occurrence. However, the main disadvantage of full doors is that they are really heavy and you will definitely feel the power loss with your Polaris Ranger. Furthermore, full doors trap in heat and can make your SxS into a sauna, which is definitely not what you’d want on a hot summer’s day.

On the other hand, half doors provide a little bit of both. They will protect you from dirt and keep you feeling cool and looking cool, as they double as a pretty neat armrest. Half doors are also very light (especially if made from aluminum) and won’t rob your Ranger of engine power.

Suicide Doors vs Front-Hinged Doors

Don’t be scared – “suicide doors” is just an interesting name for rear-hinged doors.

Now, when you’ll be looking around for the best half doors for your Polaris Ranger, you will see that there are two types of half doors available – suicide doors and front-hinged doors.

While suicide doors sound rather unpleasant (suicide is no bueno), they really aren’t that big of a deal on UTVs and other offroad vehicles. Actually, they make it easier for you to get in and out of your SxS.

With that said, suicide doors feel very unintuitive to use and can still be dangerous if they somehow blow open while riding, and you or somebody else reaches out to close them.

To that end, you should probably be looking for the regular front-hinged doors.

Aluminum vs Steel Door Frame

Half doors are usually made from either aluminum, steel, or a combination of both.

Ideally, you’d want to get the full aluminum half doors, because they’re lightweight and significantly more resistant to corrosion. The only downside to them is that they’re more expensive.

Made in USA vs Outsourced

This last one is pretty obvious and should probably apply to almost everything that you buy.

Half doors made in the USA, by a real hardworking company will most likely be of better quality than those that have been made overseas. Furthermore, you’re you’ll help the economy grow.
